It's a question we get a lot. And we love it.

Because it means Angel Fire is still very much a hidden New Mexico gem. It's accessible, affordable, uncrowded, and most of all fun.

Angel Fire is nestled in the Moreno Valley

We found Angel Fire almost by accident. We were selling a modest rental home we had bought and fixed up in Florida, and my husband wanted to use that money toward a down payment on a vacation home near a ski resort. After days of research, he came up with a place he called "AngelFire" in the mountains of New Mexico. He told me they had a great ski resort, and he was dying to check it out.

Quite honestly, I had never heard of Angel Fire New Mexico. And I don't ski, so I was skeptical about whether I would want to visit as much as he would.

But I trusted his judgment on this one...and I have to confess he was absolutely right.

Our first glimpse of Angel Fire New Mexico was love at first sight! We came across the mountains from Taos and below us spread the breathtaking Moreno Valley.

Our Sydney daughter was excited because, as a Floridian, she would actually get to play in the snow. My husband, was anxious to check out the Angel Fire Ski Resort, as well as golfing, fishing and hiking.

And I was awestruck by the sheer beauty of the area.

I quickly learned I shouldn't have worried about keeping busy while they were skiing. Each time we returned, we found more and more things to do:

• Horseback riding (Sydney's favorite)
• Golfing
• Fishing (two of Kevin's favorites)
• Snowmobiling
• Hiking (my fave)

We never thought we'd want to leave Florida sunshine, but now we find ourselves escaping to our Angel Fire vacation condo every chance we get, and we love to share this hidden New Mexico treasure with friends and family.

We have created this website to share with you all the fun family things to do we have found in the area.
